TrueNU supports Evanston and Chicagoland charities by partnering them with NU athletes and allowing their time, talent, and good work to amplify the charitable cause.
Our goal is to shape the next generation of influential leaders and philanthropists while nurturing a culture of community service.

Camp Kesem
Camp Kesem is a free, week long overnight summer camp experience designed for children who are impacted by a parent’s cancer. The camp creates a world where the children are never alone and support them through their parent’s cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community.
Chicago CRED
A holistic approach to reducing gun violence through street outreach, life coaching, workforce development, and more, Chicago CRED works with community leaders, like-minded organizations, and hundreds of young men and women to radically reduce gun violence and bring hope back to Chicago.
Intentional Sports
Intentional Sports believes everyone deserves the opportunity to play, compete, and achieve. They are a non-profit organization that stands committed to providing best-in-class sports programs, competitive opportunities, and health and wellness training for everyone, leveraging a best-in-class athletic facility in the heart of Chicago.
Student Athletics Foundation
Student Athletics Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to unify student-athletes by providing an elite level of educational and athletic opportunities that will help student-athletes develop social altruism, mental fortitude, and achieve academic and athletic success.
Gratitude Generation
G2 provides community-service opportunities in the Chicago area for children, families and organizations. They are working to create more grateful, happy, healthy children who will grow into contributing adults and improve the lives of people around them. G2 supports neighbors in need while building a new generation of service-minded leaders.
NUDM
NUDM is one of largest entirely student-run philanthropies in the nation. Every year, 1000+ dancers and committee members come together to create NUDM and dance for 30 hours to benefit the Evanston Community Foundation. Since 1975, NUDM has raised more than $22 million for more than 30 different charitable organizations.
Chicago HOPES for Kids
Chicago HOPES for Kids provides comprehensive support to Chicago students and families experiencing homelessness. We are committed to our children’s educational development and long-term empowerment through academic support, dedicated mentorship and basic needs services to aid future resilience and prosperity.
Honor Flight Chicago
Honor Flight Chicago’s mission is to Honor, Thank, and Inspire by building awareness and appreciation of the debt of gratitude America owes its veterans for their service and sacrifice for our nation. The centerpiece of our programming is the Day of Honor in Washington, D.C., visiting the war memorials built in tribute to the service of our veterans.
Uplifting Athletes
Uplifting Athletes harnesses the power of sport to build a community that invests in the lives of people impacted by rare diseases. We leverage public interest to cultivate resources that accelerate scientific advancements for rare diseases and create Uplifting Experiences – special moments that enrich the lives of rare disease patients and their loved ones.
LEAP
LEAP (Language Empowers All People) continues to carry out its mission in classrooms across Chicago. LEAP was born to empower children, teens and young adults from under-resourced Black and Brown communities with an opportunity to work on their critical oral and written language skills so essential to reaching their personal academic and social goals.
Paws & Claws
Paws & Claws Cat Rescue is a foster centric rescue with an Adoption Center in Evanston IL. We focus on cats who are at risk of euthanasia in local shelters. Our goal is to provide every animal in our care with behavioral, emotional and medical care and to eventually match them with a family. We are a small, close-knit organization that believes in community, support and inclusion, responsibility, and kindness.
NSSRA
Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) is an extension of ten park districts, two cities and one village in the northern suburbs of Chicago and provides and facilitates year-round recreation programs and services for children, teens and adults with disabilities. NSSRA offers recreation, sport, cultural and social programs and events available throughout the year.
Evanston Scholars
Evanston Scholars’ goal is to see more students start and finish college. Through mentors, peer relationships, and learning opportunities, we seek to bolster our Scholars’ support system, thereby improving their chances of obtaining a college degree. The comprehensive, six-year program also offers workshops and ACT/SAT prep to support students with financial and academic needs.
